Using QuickTime VR

There are a few things to keep in mind as you navigate:

Using VR is easy. By now, you should have the QuickTime 4.0 plug-in installed, and be connected to a fast ethernet connection.

The opening screen of the garden tour you will find a map of the Learning Landscape gardens at URI, and a list of eight vantage points, or nodes, where you can begin your tour. Select any of the eight by clicking on the "VR" symbol.

After the controller downloads, a new browser window will open up, which is the QuickTime controller. In this window, you will see the VR image, and a pull down menu. This is your initial starting point in the tour.

Using your mouse, hold down the mouse button as you "drag" the VR image up, down, left and right. You are now in virtual space. As you navigate, watch below the VR image for short text descriptions of what you are pointing at with your mouse.

Clicking on plants will bring up a text description, a macro photograph, and in some cases a voice description of the plant.

You may change vantage points from the pull-down menu or from the map.

Enjoy the show.
